Stellaris – Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Mod

Stellaris – Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Mod

The mod itself

This mod is still in development, and I will keep improving it in the near future (if time permits). I am well aware that this mod is probably way overpowered, but I made it so that all technologies are player-only. It wouldn’t be fair if a fallen empire could cross the entire galaxy in a single jump now, would it? (Spoiler alert: yes, the Improbability Drive can do this) 🙂

This mod is primarily designed to be fun, although maybe I will bring out an additional version which is more balanced, depending on the demand. I also took the liberty of describing all research projects as close as possible to the original Hitchhiker’s Guide, so I hope you enjoy reading the tech descriptions 🙂

Please, feel free to give me feedback on needed fixes or tweaks, or comments on how to improve this mod even further.

Technologies

This mod features lots of new technologies, including a next generation warp/hyper/jump drive based on the HHG saga, Deep Thought and the Infinite Improbability Drive! For a full overview of the technologies featured in this mod, see the tech tree added. A few technologies are listed below:

  • Infinite Improbability Drive: the ultimate jump drive, can cross the galaxy in 1 jump
  • Phargilor Kangaroo Relocation Drive: next generation warp drive, bonus to cooldown/range/speed
  • Vogon Hyperspace Drive: next generation hyperspace drive, bonus to windup/speed
  • Bistromathic Drive: next generation jump drive, bonus to range
  • Deep Thought: empire unique building, gives 42 research each + 42% increase in research speed
  • Conventional Photon Drive: next generation thrusters, bonus to speed/combat speed
  • Various other buildings/technologies
  • Improbability/Bistromathics research chain

Future Additions

  • I hope to add new ships, like the Heart of Gold / Vogon ships, but as I’m quite inexperienced with creating 3D models of these ships I have to learn this first, it’s just an idea
  • Additional technologies/components
  • Additional buildings

What is Stellaris mods?

A mod (short for "modification") is an alteration where someone, usually a player, changes some aspect (e.g. the way it looks or behaves) of a video game. Mods may range from small changes and simple tweaks to completely new games made within a video game. Games running on a personal computer are often designed with change in mind, allowing modern PC games to be modified by gamers without much difficulty. Don't wait and try Stellaris mods right now.
