Balanced Space Warfare Mod

Balanced Space Warfare Mod

BSW : Total battle balance mod with vanilla taste.

2.7x COMPATIBILITY : YES

# NEW COMPUTERS & BEHAVIORS #

Carrier Computers

Flee after launching strikecrafts, but has a penalty of ship speed and evasion.
Huge engagement range bonus – so that carriers can engage enemy nearly everywhere in the system and start battles much more ealrier, launching their strikecraft out-of-enemy-range.
With this computers, carriers will become much more stronger in extreme-long-ranged battles, but they will be beaten by well-PD-prepared ships in close combat.
If you prefer carriers not running away, there’s another .

Maximum Range Computers

The bonuses will be the same as those of Artillery computers.
Uses the ship’s longest-ranged weapon range as their formation.
Mainly designed for misslie ships – which will have longest range now.

# BALANCED WEAPONS #

Strikecrafts

Strikecrafts are now has reduced regeneration, and there are 4 (not 8) per hanger.
No strikecrafts PD function, so they only charge to the enemy ships. More options down below with addons.
Costs, powers and upkeeps of hangers are now more expensive.
Strikecraft tech is now in Sociology (Military theory)

Missiles

Missiles range will increase as they upgrade. From 100 for T1 (same as vanilla) to 140 for T4.
Missiles will be faster, and deals much more damage against armor and hull.

X Weapons

Mega/Giga cannons will have the longest range and low accuracy, while similar DPS with lance weapons.
Lance weapons will have slightly reduced range, but will have highest accuracy, useful for both big & small ships.
Arc emitters will have their DPS & range lowered. Now, their stats are consistant with that of S/M/L penetrating weapons – Disrupters and Cloud Lightnings.

Ship Designs with Consistent Roles & Behavior Settings

There are several ship design concepts – short-ranged, long-ranged, missile, strikecraft, PD, and so on – for each ship classes.
And each concepts will have some combinations of sections with varying selection probabilities.
For example, some AI with missile battleship preference will prefer missile-based battleship sections – like Missile Bow (P2G3), Core (P2G5), Stern (G2) or Missile Hanger Stern (H1G1) – but also they will use other sections like Spinal Mount Bow (X1) or Armored Sections.
And such ships will be equipped with Maximum Range Computers, because their missiles are now longest-ranged.
Ships with guns (lasers, mass drivers, plasma cannons, autocannons and so on) will be also designed with appropriate combat computers.
Carriers will equip Carrier Computers, which make their behaviors change a lot, so their designs will be more focused on strikecraft capability, try not to use guns or cannons.
One exception is battleship-class carriers with X-slot weapons. These carriers will use Max Range Computers, so will not run away as regular carriers do, but fight in second line.

Fleet Combination

Each AI will have their fleet as a combination of such class design concepts described above.
Here’s some examples;
Spiritual Seekers will make their corvettes/destroyers short-ranged, cruisers/battleships long-ranged.
Hive minds will use small ships as short-ranged, cruisers as mid-sized carrier, battleships as artillery ships.
Democratic Crusaders try to use battleships as X-slot equipped carrier, fighting in line.
Migrating Flocks operate destroyer-class escort carriers, along with large carriers.
And so on…
These combinations are vary, and if AI’s personalities changes, it can be change also.

Design Adaptation

AI will have chances to change ship designs (especially destroyers, but not battleships) to use PD concepts, if they meet many missile/strikecraft enemy countries.
Also, some design changes can be made by AI ships if there are crisis (Scourge, Unbidden, or Contingency) expected or ongoing.

# MORE SECTIONS #

Inspired by

Added New Sections

Over 70 sections from corvettes to titans, making 600+ ship combinations.
And even more with !!!
These new sections will be unlocked by hull upgrade techs.

Role-focused Sections

Now, sections will be more specialized for their roles. For example, corvette Picket Ship Section was P1S2 in vanilla, but now has P2S1.
Missile sections had many S slots in vanilla, but now they are focused on misslie capabilities or just combined with PD.
Sections with many-sized guns are trimmed to all-big gun sections or small gun sections, because combinations can be made by sections. By this, it is much easier to find optimal battle range for ships.

Armored or Firepower Sections

Some sections have much defense slot at the expense of weapon slots, or vice versa.
These sections will make players and AI some options to make much more tough ships or ships with big punch.
All these trade-offs are balanced, making each sections worth their alloys.
