- 2 new non-restricted armies: Mechanized Assault Group and Airborne Task Force
- 15 new restricted armies (see screenshots)
- New armies are available at the start, but locked behind Ethos requirements.
- Original research unlocked armies re-envisioned.
- Rebalance of planetary warfare: boots on the ground win wars, not fortifications or blockades.
- Defensive armies, generally speaking, have considerably more health and/or morale.
- Garrisons re-envisioned as Insurgencies.
